THE CB INN

Excellent accommodation
in an unspoilt Dales
location
The CB Inn is located in Arkengarthdale, a remote and beautiful Dale
above Swaledale on the edge of the Pennine Way and close to the mid point
of the Coast to Coast walk. An 18th Century Inn, it was once home to Charles
Bathurst, a land and mine owner and son of Oliver Cromwell's Physician.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CB
The
Inn was reopened in August 1996 by Charles and Stacy Cody, having been
completely refurbished by Dales craftsmen using local wood and stone.
Open fires and antique pine in the bar and restaurant create a warm and
friendly atmosphere in which to eat, drink and relax in the company of
a regular cast of local characters.
The CB has a growing reputation for
high quality classically cooked fresh food, served in a relaxed informal
atmosphere.
Each of the en-suite rooms has been individually decorated, is centrally
heated and commands marvellous views of the Stang and Arkengarthdale.
The CB is an ideal base from which to explore some of the most beautiful
countryside and villages in Britain.
Accommodation at the CB
The CB has five double, three twin and one single
bedroom. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and is centrally
heated. All bedrooms have a colour television and tea and coffee
making facilities. House-trained pets are welcome by prior arrangement.
Outside there is ample off-street parking and a purpose-built
childrens' play area.

The CB is a starting point for many walks. We can provide first-hand
detailed information on walks throughout Swaledale and Arkengarthdale
ranging from light strolls to circular day long treks encompassing some
of the most beautiful scenery in Britain. If a whole day's walk is planned
we can organise packed lunches and thermos flasks.
The most suitable map is the Landranger Ordnance Survey No 30. Maps,
compasses and route planning are provided. We also keep a whole range
of books on the area to help in planning walks, exploring the old lead
mining ruins and local market towns.
Many of the walks in the area cross or follow sections of the Pennine
Way. The famous Coast to Coast Walk passes adjacent to the Inn on the
other side of Calva Hill. The Three Peaks are within easy driving distance.

Shortly there will be an additional 10 bedrooms, all
with superb views, giving a total of 18 double/twin en-suite rooms.
