Known as the 'Wheatsheaf Inn' until about 1880, this former coaching inn offers a warm and friendly welcome and a high standard of en-suite Bed and Breakfast accommodation throughout the year. Parties of 10 can be accommodated. Just off the market square in the centre of Leyburn, Clyde House is a listed building dating from around 1750, and said to be one of the oldest buildings in the Town. At the turn of the last century it was owned by a Bank, and was subsequently a Girls School. After the war it became a private family house.
South-facing rooms have splendid views over Wensleydale
and Middleham Moor. Two of the bedrooms have been converted from the
haylofts above the original stables, and retain many of the original
roof timbers.
In keeping with Yorkshire's reputation for fine food and hospitality Leyburn offers a superb choice of pubs and restaurants serving meals in the evening.
