Oysterber Farm Holiday Cottages

Excellent self-catering accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales, with the option of pottery courses in our Bentham Pottery or mountain bike trails on the Three Peaks

All footpaths in our immediate area are now open as are all the footpaths
on Ingleborough and Whernside.

Oysterber Farm is a small high quality and imaginative development, supported by the English Tourist Board, on a non-working farm in open countryside. It is three quarters of a mile from Low Bentham near Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales. Within walking distance of Oysterber Farm are a General Store, Post Office, two Pubs which serve excellent bar snacks, and a quality Restaurant.

Close to the Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent, this part of England offers some of the very best walking, climbing, cycling and caving. These superbly appointed cottages make first class holiday homes to take in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, the west coast seaside resorts of Morecambe, Blackpool and Southport, and the beautiful Lancashire countryside only a few miles away at the Forest of Bowland.

Oysterber Farm is three miles from Ingleton, famous for its waterfalls and caves and six miles from the attractive Cumbrian market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Steam Town railway museum, with large main line steam engines in working order, is only ten miles away at Carnforth, whilst the wild life reserve at Leighton Moss is only a further five miles.

Recreational facilities around Bentham are many and varied, including fishing in the river Wenning for trout and sea trout. There is a good 9 hole golf course and modern clubhouse. A very active 'footpath' group organise guided walks around the area, with around 28 well sign posted walks in all. Mountain Bikes can be hired locally to ride the many green roads that abound. Owners Barrie and Kathy Cartledge are keen on and off road cyclists, and have a special brochure on the 'Three Peaks Cycling Experience'.

Walking, potholing and cycling are organised during the months of October to April. All you need to do is get a group together for a weekend or a week and we will arrange everything else from leading, to organising social activities in the evenings. Contact us for more details and book early as they are very popular.

The Bentham Pottery

Close to the holiday cottages is the owners' Pottery. Guests are welcome to come and "have a go" on a pottery course ranging from half a day to a full week, or simply just to come and watch.

The area was once famous for its small potteries and the nearby village of Burton-in-Lonsdale was the centre of this rural industry. Bentham Pottery is produced in the traditional manner, mainly on the wheel and fired in a gas kiln to stoneware temperatures and sold either from the showroom or several outlets in the Yorkshire Dales. All the Holiday Cottages are provided with pottery made on the premises.
