Farmhouse
Bed and Breakfast Accommodation on the edge of the North York Moors -
a friendly welcome off the beaten track
Sproxton
Hall is situated in a magnificent elevated position overlooking the Howardian
Hills on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, with truly panoramic
views over open countryside, wooded valleys, crop-laden fields and grazing
livestock. There can be little to match the sight of the dawn mist as
it clings to the valley floors and the evening sun as it sets behind the
hills.
The
Hall stands in total peace and seclusion at the end of the cul-de-sac
hamlet of Sproxton - yet only one and a half miles from the bustling market
town of Helmsley. Sproxton Hall is a 300 acre family-run working farm
devoted to sheep, cattle, pigs and arable crops of wheat & barley,
oilseed rape, silage and hay. Guests are welcome to take an interest in
any aspect of farming throughout the seasons.
Enjoy
the peaceful atmosphere, magnificent views and comfort as a guest at Sproxton
Hall, a Grade 2 Listed Building. This seventeenth century beamed farmhouse
has been lovingly and tastefully furnished and decorated in a traditional
way giving the warm and cosy elegance of a country home. There is full
central heating throughout.
As a non-smoking household it would be appreciated if guests did
not smoke in the house.
The
farmhouse has an extremely tranquil and elegant guests drawing-room with
deep chintz sofa and chairs to relax in, and an attractive dining-room
where guests enjoy a full hearty English breakfast. There are also many
interesting inns in the area where Yorkshire hospitality and evening meals
may be enjoyed.
Bedrooms
are most welcoming and decorated in co-ordinating Sanderson or Laura Ashley
prints. Double rooms have half-tester or coronet drapes over bed. Facilities
include vanity units, razor points, remote control colour TV and tray
for hot drinks.
Featured in Alastair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay', Sproxton Hall is well located for visiting York, the open spaces, delightful villages, and historic sights of the North York Moors and 'Heartbeat Country', and the charming old ports and fishing villages of the East Coast.
Directions
From Thirsk take the A170 for 12 miles. Then turn Right onto B1257 (1 mile before Helmsley) then 50 yds on turn left by the church. The House is at the end of 'No Through Road'.
