Bentham Pottery was started over 20 years
ago by Barrie & Kathy Cartledge, although their son Lee Cartledge
now takes a large part in running this thriving family business situated
near Ingleton
in the Three Peaks area of North Yorkshire. The Pottery is part of
the Oysterber
Farm Holiday Cottage complex
and was converted from an old open barn. The building houses all the
production area and a spacious studio, where a good range of the products
are displayed and sold to the public.
The pottery produced is all hand made
stoneware and a full range of domestic ware is available in various
colours, although the blue & green ranges are the most popular.
Non functional decorative pottery is also produced and is varied in
colour and design. All the domestic pottery with the necessary care
is Microwave, Oven and Dishwasher proof and very hardwearing. It gets
a thorough testing in the Holiday Cottages where each one is equipped
throughout with it. Breakages can be easily replaced as the designs
are kept in production for many years.
As well as selling direct to the public,
Bentham Pottery also sells wholesale to various craft outlets, great
care being taken to ensure that only one outlet is supplied in any
town or village. To request a retail or wholesale price list, or to
seek any further information on anything, please use the on-line reply form.
Bentham Pottery also produces personalised ware and
can incorporate names, logos etc on a wide range of products. These
are particularly popular with clubs and organisations and make good
prizes and souvenirs. We are now taking orders for "Millennium
Beakers" and if you require anything special, then now is the
time to order from us. Just let us have your enquiry and we will give
you a quotation based on how many are required.
Another popular service we offer is
the wedding list, where we will gladly put together wedding gifts
chosen from our catalogue. We send out lists of our products to all
the relations and guests, who then order from us the items required.
We ensure that presents are ready for collection well before the wedding
day.
We also produce,
to special order, ceramic knobs and handles for Kitchen Furniture
that co-ordinate with our range of Kitchen Pottery. This range is
still under development and in fact we are producing all the handles
for our own new Kitchen cupboards and drawers and it looks really
good.
We also supply a complete range of
Clay and raw materials for both amateur and professional potters,
including schools and colleges. We are also able to recommend Kilns
and Potters Wheels to prospective customers as our experience has
been gained over many years and the equipment we use has been well
and truly tested during this period.
Adjacent to the pottery there are 4 self catering
Holiday Cottages,
which are available for letting throughout the year and make an ideal
base for the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. There is also a small
Caravan Site suitable for up to 5 vans only, with electric hook ups
and Toilet and Shower facilities.
Pottery courses are run throughout
the year and are generally structured around the requirements of the
individual or group, and range in length from a half day to a full
week. Courses can be combined with a holiday in one of the Cottages
or on the Caravan Site and are ideal for wet days.
Throughout the year we exhibit at various
Craft Fairs around the country and a list of these is available on
request. You can contact us with the on-line
reply form.
