Abbots Thorn, Carlton, Coverdale in the northern Yorkshire Dales is a 200 year old, traditional stone-built Dales house, which has been lovingly converted into a warm and comfortable place to stay.
Each room has a hospitality tray with tea, both Indian and fruit, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk, together with a colour television. All rooms have a window with a seat so that you can enjoy the stunning views of Coverdale that unfold from our sunny south-facing location.
Leyburn is the nearest town to Abbots Thorn and is a bustling market town with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Middleham, about four miles away, is known as the race horse capital of the north and they can often be seen going through their paces on the moor. After a comfortable nights sleep, a full country breakfast featuring traditional local produce awaits you in the informal dining room. For those with lighter appetites the breakfast menu offers various alternatives.
'Abbots Thorn is not licensed but please feel free to bring your own wine and we will do the rest.'
