ASHFIELD HOUSE

Welcome to Ashfield House, Grassington, a secluded seventeenth-century ‘Home' situated down a private lane, only a few yards from Grassington's cobbled village square. The House started life as 3 single room cottages, built in 1604, the first all stone buildings, together with the Old Hall, to be built in Grassington. The cottages were initially occupied by lead miners, who worked in Grassington's lead mines, the remains of which are within a 15 minute walk.

As resident owners, we extend a warm and friendly welcome, in the relaxed atmosphere of our 'Home from Home' environment, offering all the opportunity to enjoy and explore the Dales, while visiting Grassington.

Hall ClockAshfield House benefits from full central heating, which, together with a wood burning stove and our large open fires creates that cosy atmosphere particularly in the colder months. Many an evening has been spent with friends roasting chestnuts and marshmallows whilst sipping a glass of wine.

Our Garden Suite and the seven twin or double-bedded rooms all have private facilities, colour television, hairdryers and courtesy tray.

Discover Grassington and the Dales, Relax in our Home, and Enjoy our friendly Hospitality,

There are no strangers here, just friends we have yet to meet.

Our food has been highly praised by regular guests and leading guides. One of our recent guests wrote and said:

‘The local and international sourcing of all the food and wine ingredients and recipes was a logistical miracle come true, the cooking and presentation were quite exceptional...'

A full English breakfast, including, home made Yoghurt, Muesli, Granola and Marmalade, locally sourced bacon, dry cured to our specification, and our own recipe sausages, is served each morning.

In the evening a freshly prepared four-course dinner is available using fresh local produce and many of our own recipes.

This may be complemented by a bottle of wine (we have a short but comprehensive wine list) and followed by coffee and mints in the lounges.

Genuine Vegetarian and special diets may be catered for if notified at the time of the reservation or at least 48 hours prior to arrival.

GRASSINGTON situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is the principal village of Upper Wharfedale, and is a thriving Dales community. It is an excellent centre from which to explore the Dales, either on foot, by car or by bicycle.

The wonderful surrounding limestone countryside provides a natural habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna, some of which are quite rare. Walks in the area are numerous and varied, from a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Wharfe to the strenuous ascent of Buckden Pike. The towns of Ilkley, Harrogate and York are within easy reach, and for those wishing to venture further it is possible to visit the Lake District from this area.
