The well-furnished house sleeps 5/6 and is well equipped with everything you might need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It adjoins the home of the owners, John and Anne, who would be pleased to offer any help or advice you require while you are there. Oil-fired central heating, logs and coal for the open fire, bed linen and towels are all included in the charge.

Ashmore House is ideally situated for exploring many of the attractions of the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding area.

A view of the village from the houseIt is just 5 miles from the historic town of Richmond, the gateway to Swaledale and 8 miles from Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum. If you travel a few miles further into Teesdale you can visit High Force waterfall, the highest waterfall in England.

As the village is only a few miles from Scotch Corner and the Al, Durham, Beamish Museum and Newcastle are within easy reach, and the Lake District and North York moors are also easily accessible for a day's outing.

The village of Aldborough itself, boasts one of the largest village greens in England, at one end of which is the village cricket club and a children's play area.  It is an ideal area for an evening stroll or exercising the dog. A small beck runs alongside the green crossed by the road bridge and three pedestrian bridges.

The village pub, the Stanwick Arms, overlooks one part of the village green and is renowned for excellent food. Many other nearby villages also have pubs with very good reputations for both food and drink; John and Anne would be pleased to give you further details.

Ashmore House comprises:

  • Childrens' play area 200 yards from the house2 large bedrooms each with ample storage space. Bedroom I - a family room with double and single bed, large wardrobe, dressing-table, television and hair-dryer.
    Bedroom 2 - twin beds, wardrobe and dressing-table.

  • Large bathroom with WC, shower over the bath and airing cupboard.

  • Comfortable lounge with open fire, three-piece suite, television, video, hi-fi, and large wall unit containing plenty of reading matter.

  • Large dining-room with mahogany dining-suite, hostess trolley, two easy chairs and an extra single/day bed in an alcove off the room.

  • Entrance porch and hall with writing table and telephone to receive incoming calls.

  • The village beck running alongside the village greenStorage cloakroom with radiator.

  • Downstairs toilet and washbasin.

  • The kitchen is well equipped and has a good range of electrical appliances - cooker, microwave, toaster, slow-cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washing machine. A tumbler drier is available for use. A fire blanket and extinguisher are located here. There is space for four to eat at a small kitchen table.

  • An enclosed walled area at the back of the house is ideal for sitting out or for a barbeque which is available.

  • Dogs are allowed with the prior permission of the owners.

  • There is ample parking at the front of the house.
