Coverdale - East Close, Braidley
A Traditional Dales Longhouse with stunning views

East Close is in the hamlet of Braidley, which is high in beautiful Coverdale, much beloved by James Herriot. There is fine walking here about and the public footpath from Nidderdale to Bishopdale passes close by. The local pub is in Horsehouse and is 1 mile away.

VIEW ACROSS COVERDALE FROM EAST CLOSE

East Close is 200 years old and was a working farm until the 1960s. The traditional Dales longhouse comprises of the Farmhouse and Shippan (cowshed), which sleep 5 and 4 respectively. The two houses have an adjoining door so can be used as one property, to sleep 9, if required. There is also a barn, the hayloft of which is used as a games room. East Close is set in one acre of land. As well as the house and garden, it includes a paddock, which is a traditional Dales flower meadow.

The Farmhouse (Sleeps 5)

Ground floor

  • The sitting room has a beamed ceiling, an open fire, CTV and a reading room annexe.
  • The dining room has a beamed ceiling and a table which seats 10.
  • Appliances include a dishwasher, microwave, a large fridge/freezer and a washer.


HOUSE AND SHIPPANUpstairs

  • There are 3 bedrooms - 1 double, 1 twin, both with beamed ceilings, and 1 single.
    All bedrooms have lovely views.
  • The bathroom has a bath and a power shower.
  • There is oil-fired central heating.
  • THE WATER SUPPLY IS SPRING WATER.

The Shippan (Sleeps 4)

Ground Floor

  • Double bedroom with beamed ceiling, modern kitchen with beamed ceiling.

Upstairs

  • Sitting room with lovely views and apex beamed ceiling, seating includes a futon.
  • Bathroom with bath and shower over. Bedroom with bunk beds.
  • The heating, cooking etc is electric.
  • THE WATER SUPPLY IS SPRING WATER.

Outside

  • THE BARN The sunny garden, with its breathtaking views, is lawned with flower borders and has picnic tables and chairs for both houses.
  • There is ample parking for 3 cars.
  • The barn has a cycle store, and upstairs, in the hayloft, there is a table tennis table and other games.
  • There is an adjoining paddock, which is a traditional Dales flower meadow.


GREAT WHERNSIDE FROM THE MEADOW Tariff

Low season:
From £180 (Shippan), £250 (Farmhouse) per week

High Season:
From £320 (Shippan), £450 (Farmhouse) per week

Short breaks are available in low season.
All fuel used is included.

Please state in advance that you require towels and bed linen. (There is a supplementary charge of £5 per person).

PETS ARE ALLOWED (There is a supplementary charge of £11 for a dog)
