Holiday cottage at Askrigg, Wensleydale, Yorkshire DalesCharlton House is a three bedroomed traditional Dales house in a quiet and secluded situation, at the southern edge of the popular village of Askrigg, in Upper Wensleydale. It provides high quality self catering holiday accommodation for up to 6 people.

The house's earliest history goes back to the 17th century and it was formerly occupied by a wheelwright. The ceilings are pine beamed throughout.

Askrigg has become well known as the main location for the BBC "All Creatures Great & Small" series for the vets surgery and pub. It is an attractive village, formerly an old market town, and was famous for clock making.

It is served today by The Kings Arms and Crown Inn pubs, as well as a general shop, post office and newsagent and delicatessen and takeaway. It has a church and village hall and is surrounded by hay meadows and walks to the river and waterfalls

Bainbridge is a mile to the south west is with its large village green and Roman camp and nearby Roman road. Hawes is five miles to the west and is the highest market town in England, and is famous for the Wallace & Gromit creamery, as well as the rope making and Dales Countryside Museum.

Visit The Royal, Loyal & Ancient Township of Middleham with its magnificent Castle once the home of King Richard the Third.
Middleham is also famous for its racehorse training with many well known racing stables in and around the town and

Askrigg is situated within max. 50 mile radius of most of Yorkshire racecourses.

Views from the garden

The accommodation consists of a well equipped kitchen with electric cooker with an extractor hood, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster and plenty of storage space. There is a dining table and chairs for six people and a television.

There is a twin bedroom downstairs, with duvets, a wash basin and pine furniture. At the back is a door to a secluded back paved area with table and seats with views over the dale.

Views over the beautiful Wensleydale countrysideUpstairs is a lounge with windows on three sides benefiting from the morning, afternoon and evening sun and views over the garden and dale.

An old cast iron range acts as a focal point surrounded by stone faced walls. There is a three piece suite, with television, video, and hi-fi, plenty of books and board games.

There are two double bedrooms with duvets, wash basins and pine furniture.

The bathroom has a bath and an electric shower in a cublicle. The house has oil fired central heating, as well as electric fires. There is a cot, travel cot, high chair and stair gate for children. There is a large garage available and plenty of parking around the house.

Prices from £250- £400 per week.

The rent includes all central heating, and hot water, but does not include electric for lights and other electrical items such as cooking, which are on a £1 coin meter. Bed linen and towels are NOT included.
