Situated in the heart of Wensleydale, Coleby Hall is a 17th Century grade II listed farmhouse with stone mullioned windows, oak beams, ingle nooks and original oak door providing a welcoming home full of old world charm and an ideal holiday away from it all. At the centre of a working farm, Coleby, facing south, is divided into two houses with the west end being to let.
Walk in a different direction every day or drive round the beauty spots of the Yorkshire Dales. There are pubs and village shops nearby in Askrigg (one mile) and Bainbridge (half mile) or visit Hawes (5 miles) and watch the famous Real Wensleydale Cheese being made. The rugged beauty of Swaledale and Wharfedale is close by for walking or driving. You enter the farmhouse through the original oak door into Victorian tiled hall with period furniture. There is a spacious a lounge with inglenook coal fire, TV, video, DVD and Freeview.
The large kitchen also has a coal fire and features an original Victorian stone sink, electric cooker, fridge, deep freezer, microwave, washing machine, crockery, pans, kettle and iron. A stone spiral staircase leads from the hall up to the bathroom with toilet, basin and shower over the bath, and two large bedrooms.
One bedroom has a double bed where you have a good view of cows coming in for morning milking (in summer) or going out in the evening, and the other faces south with lots of sun and consists of three single beds.
The farmhouse has oil fired central heating throughout with coal, oil and electricity included in the price, and all bed linen and towels are also provided.
Outside, a large garden in front of the house looks down on a tree lined drive which apart from the day to day running of the farm is peaceful and quiet, about 300 yards from the road, and a secure private garden from the side door has an uninterrupted view across fields and the Pennines. |
