2 Self catering cottages in Embsay,
near Skipton, Yorkshire Dales

Embsay is one and a half miles northeast of Skipton. Part of the village is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is bordered by splendid open countryside.

 

Self catering at Elm Garth Cottage, at Embsay, near Skipton It is the home of The Yorkshire Dales Steam Railway and has a Village Store with Post Office and two pubs, both serving good home cooking. There is also a Library in the Village Hall with free Internet access. There are also computers in the Masons Arms Pub in the next village of Eastby.

Skipton high streetEmbsay is a good centre for walkers and those touring by car. Harrogate, York and Bronte Country are within easy reach and the Lake District and both coasts make a pleasant day out.

Skipton is a lovely market town. It has a popular street market four times a week on the High Street below Skipton Castle.

There is lots to do in the town and nearby area whatever your interests are, the time of year, or the weather! Sheep Day, Medieval Festival, Theatre in the Mart, Canal Cruises, Cinema, RHS Harlow Carr, Settle Carlisle Railway, Broughton Game Show, Waterways Festival, Country and Western Weekend, Boundary Mill Retail Outlet, to name just a few!!

The Accommodation Sleeps 2
This is a cosy home from home that I have let as a holiday cottage with great success for the past twelve years. It has exposed beams an open fire and is decorated and furnished to a high standard. It is possible to park on the village street outside the cottage but has a private parking space at the rear.

Ground Floor

  • Sitting room with exposed beams, open fire and sofabed. (for the occasional third guest)
  • Well equipped kitchen with dining area for four people.

First Floor

  • Large double bedroom
  • Bathroom with handheld shower over bath

Outside

  • Very sunny patio area with garden furniture. Private parking space for one car.

This cottage is dated from around 1700 and has many The living roomoriginal features.

Ground Floor

  • Sitting area, beamed ceiling, open fire.
  • Modern kitchen which is very well equipped dishwasher, washing machine etc.

First Floor

  • Double bedroom
  • Single bedroom
  • Bathroomwith overbath shower

To the rear of the cottage is a small seating area with picnic table and a fantastic view of Embsay Cragg and the moorland. The cottage adjoins the Elm Tree Pub that is a typical village pub offering a wide choice of good and reasonably priced home-cooked food, a Quiz Night every Monday, it’s proximity not causing a problem to guests in the cottage.

Parking is permitted on the cottage frontage, or there is a free public car park a few steps down the Main Street.

  • Kindling, firelighters and bag of coal provided
  • Double glazing throughout
  • Gas central heating and hot water from modern “Combi” boiler
  • Electricity and Gas included in rent
  • 1 small dog is welcome, but no smoking for safety reasons in either cottage.
