Welcome to Gaudy House Farm Gaudy House Farm has magnificant views across the head of Wemsleydale, looking down on both Gayle and Hawes from its position on the hillside by the Pennine Way. It provides a wonderful, peaceful setting for a Dales' holiday, but is still within easy reach of Hawes and the surrounding villages. It retains 25 acres of its own farmland, which guests are free to enjoy.
The accommodation is in converted old barns adjacent to the farmhouse. It is well equipped and very comfortable throughout. The Duerley barn (situated to the right in the picture opposite) has upper and lower lets, each with two bedrooms and sleeping 4 people. Widdale (to the left of the white farmhouse in the picture) is slightly larger, having a small third bedroom and sleeps up to 5 people. All three have both central heating and open fires. It is well suited for larger parties who want to combine and take more than one let. We are open all year and dogs are welcome except in Upper Duerley. For the walkers amongst you there are a number of excellent walks direct from the farmhouse, without having to get in the car. We're happy for guests to stroll around our own fields and gill (and take a look at Blitz the horse on the way), including those with dogs, providing none of the livestock or wildlife is disturbed. Curlews and lapwings are usually in abundance in springtime. Hawes retains a friendly, unspoilt, local feel and about a mile away. It is a lovely walk down to the town through Gayle. Hawes has a number of pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as some interesting shops and attractions such as the creamery, ropemakers, and museum. Gayle is an even older village and is the site of the recently opened Gayle Mill, which featured on the BBC Restoration programme. |
