Grafton Mere Fishing Lakes
The intention is to provide
good fishing limited to a few anglers who will appreciate and enjoy
fishing in what is the most attractive and unspoilt setting.
The Carp Lake
is well stocked with carp up to 23lb and there are Wels Catfish
present to 30lb. There are 20 fishing stands.
The
water is very rich in nutrients and invertebrate life providing good
growth potential for the fish. Small fish are removed annually to allow the
big fish to grow.
The Tench Lake
is a three quarters acre mixed coarse fishery containing Tench
to 6lb, Crucian Carp, Roach, Perch, Rudd, Bream, Golden Orfe.
Keepnets and poles are allowed on the Tench Lake.
The Trout Lake
is 2 acres in
size and set in secluded surroundings. It is regularly stocked with
Rainbow Trout and fishing is only available to farm guests and members of
the exclusive syndicate.
The lakes are managed for
the benefit of the environment. 2 acres is part of an overall
conservation scheme for Prospect Farm. The old meadow to the west and
north of the lake is managed on a no fertilizer or spray system to
preserve the wild flowers. It is a beautiful setting for a fishing break
or just to get away from the strains of modern living.
