High
Cottage is set on the fells above Swaledale, blissfully off
the beaten track, and within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The south-facing house is surrounded by an S.S.S.I., a wilderness
area of stone walls and heather, grazed by hardy sheep and home
to many moorland birds, such as grouse, curlew and buzzard.
It has sweeping views down one of the most beautiful of the
Yorkshire Dales to the little town of Reeth, with its broad
village green, bakery and stores and a good selection of pubs,
restaurants and cafés.
The
cottage is an ideal base for walking and an escape from twenty
first century bustle. The three distinctive and historic market
towns of Richmond, Hawes and Barnard Castle are within 30 minutes
drive and the area is rich in the relics of the lead mining
industry.
We
have recently restored and renovated High Cottage to create a
comfortable and well equipped house, while enhancing the original
character of this 18th Century building. We often stay at High
Cottage ourselves and have taken particular care with the furnishings
and décor.
It
really is our home from home.

impaired mobility. Please ask if you are unsure.
Please
note that the road to High Cottage is via a narrow steep lane,
which becomes unmade track 200yds from the cottage, but is perfectly
accessible in a normal family car.
