How to find usFrom the A65 Skipton to Kendal road take the Ingleton village road opposite the BP garage/co-op store and flower beds. Do not take Laundry Lane Road but go straight across onto the road into the NEW VILLAGE. Take the first left through BROADACRE and follow the signs for Inglebeck.
What to see and doAt the junction of 2 rivers lies the small village of Ingleton. The River Twiss from Kingsdale and the River Doe from Chapel-le-Dale combine to form the River Greta in Ingleton. Ingleton sits at the foothills of Ingleborough (2373ft) which is part of the dramatic landscape of the Limestone Dales and THREE PEAKS area, the other two being Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside. The erosion of the limestone has produced dramatic underground rivers, stunning potholes and caves providing for many outdoor activities. Glaciation has produced spectacular scars, erratics, limestone pavements, high cliffs and deep dry gorges. Here we have this unique landscape and Inglebeck is the ideal place for walking, cycling, climbing, caving, canoeing and potholing. Places to visit• Hardraw Force and Aysgarth Falls both featured in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves • Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss • White Scar Caves • Ingleton Waterfalls • Ingleborough Cave • The Yorkshire Falconry Centre • Skipton Castle • Ribblehead viaduct and the Settle Carlisle Railway • The Calendar Girls Trail • Lakes Windermere and Coniston For the less adventurous Ingleton village has much to offer for a short break or longer. There is an interesting selection of family owned craft shops, pubs, cafes, food and now a Farmer's Market every fourth Sunday. Ingleton also has a modern children's playground and outdoor heated swimming pool (seasonal) to keep all ages happy. EntertainmentThroughout the season Ingleton is alive with music and events such as the Folk Weekend in October, Operational Homeguard 1940s weekend in July and the Dickensian Christmas Fair in December. A highlight of the calendar is the Mountain Race and Ingleton Gala in July. |
