Here you may escape the crowds, lose track of time and enjoy the special charm of the Dales at their very best.
We offer full English breakfast to get you off to a good start and we can provide packed lunches if required. Evening meals may be obtained in the village at the Queen's Arms Inn or further afield in Arncliffe, Kettlewell, Kilnsey and Grassington.
In the spring, the lanes and fields are a mass of wild flowers; in the summer the sheep graze in the meadows and a great variety of birds can be seen; Autumn brings rich, deep colours to the trees and the moorland heather which provides cover for the many grouse and pheasant. Opportunities for walking abound. From the door you can amble along the river or twisting lanes down the Dale to Arncliffe or up-Dale to Halton Gill.
The eight mile circular walk around Pen-y-Ghent Gill passes a neolithic burial mound and disused lime kiIns and takes you along an ancient pack horse trail. A short drive from the door opens up endless further possibilities in what is undoubtedly some of England's best walking country.
There are many historic churches in the local villages and, of course, everywhere are the barns and dry stone walls that make the Dales scenery so unique. There are many other activities available in the area - fishing, pony-trekking, potholing, climbing, caving, railways, and a leisure centre a short drive away. Bed and Breakfast is from £30 to £36 per person per night. We offer winter mid-week breaks and reduced rates for children, plus discounts for stays of two nights or longer.
