The Local Area

Situated on the A684 about five miles into Wensleydale from Bedale, 2 The Cottages offers easy access from the A1 yet is ideally located for walkers looking to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is also well placed for visiting the North Yorkshire Moors and many interesting places in the Vale of York.

Some of the areas finest castles can be found at Middleham, Richmond and Castle Bolton near Leyburn, where as the ancient abbeys of Fountains, Coverham, Jervaux and Rievaux are all within a 30 minute drive.

Excellent walking area with some nice wooded walks available from the village.

The local village pub (~250 yards) serves real ale and has a small first class restaurant. The nearest shop is in Crakehall, about 1 mile away with the market towns of Bedale (4 miles) and Leyburn (6 miles) having charming local shops.
