Yorkshire Dales Inn Accommodation

There are no ghosts, as far as we know, but there is everything else you could want in a traditional 17th Century country inn at the Queens Arms in Litton.

Littondale Inn, The Queens. The cheerful welcome you receive from Neil and Tanya Thompson is mirrored in the blazing open fire and oaken beams. The wholesome country fare fit not only for Yorkshire folk but enjoyed by an international clientele is well matched by the Real Ale served from the pumps on the wooden bar.

Stay in comfortable en-suite accommodation with views over beautiful Littondale.

Compact but never overcrowded, The Queens, as it is locally known in the Dale, lies in the parish of Litton. The hamlet gives its name to Littondale, the "lost" Dale of Charles Kingsley's "Water Babies".

The Bar areaLying in the heart of the sheep farming community of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the solid locally hewn stone walls of the Queens, over two feet thick in places, provide a calm retreat for the young and not so young, for resident, for passer-by and for local farmer alike. And people talk to strangers here.

View from the front of the inn including camping fieldOn a summer's day it is a joy to sit at the trestle benches outside in the garden, bathing in the sun, admiring the view over to Fountains Fell, which rises above the River Skirfare.

Camping can be arranged on our field which has limited amenities in a beautiful setting.

If you are staying in one of the tastefully furnished bedrooms you might be awoken by a barn owl hooting at night or the dawn chorus at first light, but you are more likely to sleep on later to enjoy a vast Farmers breakfast.

Good food and good company at the QueensThe Queens Arms is renowned for its good food and extensive menu at lunchtimes and evenings. There is a wide vegetarian menu.
