DirectionsScar House Bunk Barn is at the head of the private Yorkshire Water road to Scar House Reservoir. From Pateley Bridge: Continue through Pateley Bridge, over the bridge and take the first right (Low Wath Road). Follow this road for approximately 8 miles, through Ramsgill and Lofthouse. On exiting Lofthouse village, take the second right (the private Yorkshire Water road) approximately 100 metres past Lofthouse village. Follow this road for approximately 4 miles, to the car park. The Scar House Bunk Barn is the only building there!

Nidderdale also offers a wide range of activities including: Mountain Biking: Scar House Bunk Barn is on the Nidderdale Way, a route that featured as part an MBR Magazine Killer Loop! A relatively easy off-road ride across to Middlesmoor takes you to the Crown Hotel, and on to How Stean Gorge for tea and cake! There is also a bridleway that circles Scar House Reservoir. For a longer ride, try The Tour of Nidderdale . For guided rides, skills courses and mountain bike leader training, visit Grit, Track & Trail . Road Cycling: Nidderdale is popular with road cyclists too. Families and leisure riders can head into Pateley Bridge, or to one of the many pubs along the way. Touring riders may like to ride to and from the bunk barn, using it as an overnight stop en route. Roadies can relish in the variety and scale of rides that take you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, for example... Pateley Bridge to Masham . Rock Climbing: Brimham Rocks is only 40 minutes from Scar House Bunk Barn, offering some of the finest gritstone climbing. For group climbing activities and ‘learn to climb' days contact Rock Steady Adventure . Rock & Gorge Adventure Days: A group activity of rock climbing and rock adventure in the morning, followed by an abseil into How Stean Gorge and a gorge adventure in the afternoon. Via Ferrata: Rock Steady Adventure can also guide you round Yorkshire's first Via Ferrata - a series of steel cables and ladders along the walls of, and across How Stean Gorge. Great to combine with the Gorge Adventure activity above. Caving: There are a number of caves in the local area, including Manchester Hole and Goyden Pot. Experienced cavers can use Scar House Bunk Barn as a base, whilst novice cavers and groups can experience a caving adventure by contacting Go Cave . Cave Leader training is also available. Walking: Scar House is a remote spot. You can enjoy the peace and quite of a walk around Scar House and Angram Reservoirs, or go further afield to Grassington. A variety of walks are available here.
