Proprietors Elaine and Michael Fleming would like to welcome you to their home in Long Preston. The Barn, as the name implies, is a converted barn situated on the A65 between Skipton and Settle. It was converted in 1985 by the hosts Elaine and Michael to a high, professional standard, tastefully decorated and maintained throughout. Long Preston and the Yorkshire Dales Long Preston is a picturesque village,set within the beautiful countryside with rolling hills and landscape. We boast two pubs, each within walking distance, where excellent food can be obtained. Whether you plan to stay in the Yorkshire Dales or merely wish to break your journey while heading north/south, why not find out for yourself what we and the surrounding area can offer. Here are a few of the many opportunities which are close by: For the enthusiastic walker the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk with Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough provides a scenic challenge. Other popular local walks include Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, and Ingleton waterfalls walk. If caving and potholing are your scene, the area offers excellent opportunities. White Scar and Ingleborough caves are easily reached. For the angler there is fly fishing on stocks reservoir, the largest fly fishery in the north of England, where you can buy a day ticket or take part in the regular competitions for rainbow trout.
Golfers can enjoy local golf courses at either Skipton or Bentham. If it is just relaxation you require then the historic market town of Skipton is approx 11 miles away, where you can enjoy a boat trip on the canal, a visit to the famous Skipton Castle or just enjoy a leisurely stroll along the high street on the popular market days of Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The small market town of Settle is a just 4 miles away and is famous for the Settle to Carlisle Railway. Both Skipton and Settle offer very good shopping facilities along with fine restaurants pubs and cafes. |
