A combined general store, newsagent and post office is situated at Linton on Ouse 1.5 miles away. The nearest supermarket is situated at Clifton Moor just off the A19, about 15 minutes away.
There are 2 public houses in Newton
on Ouse. The Dawney Arms has a riverside situation and offers an excellent
menu to cover all tastes in either the bar or restaurant. The Blacksmith's
Arms provides traditional pub food and on Sundays a traditional lunch between
12 and 2 pm. A public telephone is situated next to the Blacksmith's
Arms.
