Yockenthwaite is a small hamlet comprising just three dwellings. The place name is Norse and means "Yoghan's clearing" (clearing in a wood or forest). Built by James Tennant in the early 18th century, the farmhouse is a beautiful Georgian building with walled garden and impressive front gate. It is a Grade 2 Listed Building.
It is a hill landscape fashioned by centuries of farming techniques, famous for its dry stone walls, hay meadows, field barns and semi-natural woodland. Wharfedale is in fact the most wooded of all the Yorkshire Dales.
Ideally situated for either walking or touring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales we are three miles from Buckden and eight miles from Hawes (the home of the famous Wensleydale Cheese!). Our Accommodation comprises:
