Yockenthwaite Farm is situated on the north bank of the River Wharfe in Langstrothdale Chase, Upper Wharfedale, and is a working hill farm that has been in the same family for over 160 years.

Yockenthwaite is a small hamlet comprising just three dwellings. The place name is Norse and means "Yoghan's clearing" (clearing in a wood or forest).

Built by James Tennant in the early 18th century, the farmhouse is a beautiful Georgian building with walled garden and impressive front gate. It is a Grade 2 Listed Building.

Upper Wharfedale is a beautiful limestone area designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. 

It is a hill landscape fashioned by centuries of farming techniques, famous for its dry stone walls, hay meadows, field barns and semi-natural woodland. Wharfedale is in fact the most wooded of all the Yorkshire Dales.

The area is also rich in archaeological remains, boasting a fine example of a Bronze Age stone circle at Yockenthwaite itself.

Ideally situated for either walking or touring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales we are three miles from Buckden and eight miles from Hawes (the home of the famous Wensleydale Cheese!).
