Yorkshire Dales Guest Houses, Hotels and Inns

Yorkshire Dales Hotels and Inns

The Yorkshire Dales offers a wide range of hotel and inns. Unlike cities, the hotels and inns in this scenic area are smaller and more intimate, usually operated by the owner and family. You can choose from Dales hotels and inns in stunning rural landscapes, accommodation in small towns, or locations at the centre of village life.

The Yorkshire Dales is famous for its scenery, with each Dale offering a different landscape ranging from the rugged to the gentle. Stunning countryside is criss-crossed by stone walls, with great rivers flowing through the valleys, and above spectacular moorland scenery.

Whether visiting the Dales to tour, to walk or enjoy some of the many countryside activities, there will be a hotel or inn to meet your requirements.

The southern Dales are accessed via the market town of Skipton. Upper Wharfedale, follows the River Wharfe from the village of Grassington, with Littondale turning off near amazing Kilnsey Crag. Nearby Malhamdale is famous for the limestone amphitheatre at Malham Cove.

The small towns of Settle and Ingleton give access to the Three Peaks countryside dominated by the peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Penyghent. Perhaps take the acclaimed Settle-Carlisle railway across the Ribblehead viaduct to Dentdale.

The northernmost Dale of Swaledale is noted for its stone field barns and summer flower meadows with nearby Arkengarthdale leading to rugged moorland scenery. Aysgarth Falls is a highlight of Wensleydale, between the two small towns of Hawes and Leyburn.

Nidderdale is centred on the village of Pateley Bridge, and extends from lush farmland on the outskirts of Harrogate to the moors at Lofthouse and Middlesmoor.

Thirsk, home of vet James Herriot, is north east, between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.
