The Barn is a converted barn situated on the A65 between Skipton and Settle. It was converted in 1985 by the hosts Elaine and Michael to a high, professional standard being tastefully decorated and maintained throughout. Long Preston is a picturesque Dales village, set within beautiful countryside with rolling hills and landscape. There are two pubs, each within walking distance, where excellent food can be obtained.

For the enthusiastic walker the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk with Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough provides a scenic challenge. Other popular local walks include Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, and Ingleton waterfalls walk. The area offers excellent opportunities for caving and potholing and White Scar and Ingleborough caves are easily reached. For the angler there is fly fishing on Stocks Reservoir, the largest fly fishery in the north of England, where you can buy a day ticket or take part in the regular competitions for rainbow trout. Golfers can enjoy local golf courses at either Skipton or Bentham.
